Arpen was born from a unique collaboration, a joint venture between a union of Mayan citrus growers and private investors, united by a shared vision of bringing the extraordinary flavors of the Yucatán Peninsula to the world. With over fifty years of combined experience in citrus growing and processing, Arpen has built a reputation for quality that stretches from their groves in Akil, Yucatán, all the way to clients across the United States and Europe.
There is something meaningful in the way Arpen does business. Nearly a hundred people work across their operations, from the fields to the plant floor, and the company has invested deeply in the community and the land around it, including a tree nursery that grows citrus, tropical, and forest species, and a partnership with the Dutch foundation reNature to build an agroforestry center that offers free training and guidance to local growers. In 2020, Arpen installed over nine hundred solar panels, allowing much of their production to run on clean, renewable energy. This is a company that cares about the land, the people who work it, and the generations who will come after.
What makes Arpen so exciting for our community is the breadth of what they offer. This is not a single juice or a single fruit. It is a full range of citrus extracts and juices drawn from the very best of what the Yucatán grows, now available with MK certification behind every one.
Their lineup includes bitter orange, sweet orange, Persian lime, grapefruit, green mandarin, tangerine, lemon, and the prized Yucatan lime, each grown in a region uniquely suited to producing citrus of exceptional character and flavor. These are the same citrus varieties that give Yucatecan cuisine its signature brightness, and now they carry the added trust of MK certification for every manufacturer and consumer who relies on them.
What makes this welcome especially exciting is how far Arpen’s products already travel. This is not a company serving one region or one market. Arpen’s citrus juices and extracts are shipped to clients throughout the United States and Europe, meaning products built on Arpen’s foundation are already reaching families far beyond Mexico’s borders. With MK certification now part of that story, our community can feel confident knowing that the citrus behind so many food and beverage products meets our standards, no matter where in the world it ends up.
