This year marks the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII. To commemorate this enormous milestone in our history, a moving and very emotional service was held recently at the cemetery on de la Savane.
Mr. Larry Rosenthal took it upon himself to organize the entire event. Chief Rabbi of Montreal, Binyomin Weiss warmly addressed those assembled with words of comfort and wisdom. Among the dignitaries present were: Israeli Consul General Ziv Nevo Kulman, D'Arcy McGee MNA David Birnbaum, City Councilor Lionel Perez, Rabbi Michael Whitman, Suburban Editor Beryl Wajsman, B'nai Brith National CEO Michael Moystyn, CIJA's Jason Caron and the League of Human Rights' Moise Moghrabi. Lt. Col Johanne Pelletier laid a wreath on behalf of the Canadian Government.
